Project: Create a high fidelity prototype for the introductory tutorial component of a scientific data analysis application suitable for advanced usability testing
Role: UX lead, prototype developer, usability testing lead
Approach: Leverage learning from low fidelity testing and user interviews, create a conversational and sequential introductory functionality to quickly engage potential users, follow-up with a second round of in-person usability testing
Key Considerations: Similar tools already in the market were perceived as not user-friendly, so an overall user-centered design was a differentiator, especially critical in creating a positive first impression with scientists
Results: The MVP v1.x of the data analysis application was successfully launched, gained traction in scientist usage of the basic features, facilitated continued user feedback, and set the stage for the Post-MVP v2.x containing key adoption differentiators
