Icon Development

Project:  Develop a set of icons representing six major functional categories of multifunction office devices for use online and in print 

Role:  Graphic design lead

Approach:  Build a new container that could combine multiple existing icons to depict the product functionality

Key Considerations:  Icons should be suitable for online and print usage on a white or gray background

Results:  Icon set used in product brochures and online

Icon Inspiration and Development

The control panel of multifunction devices leveraged a two button system for Start and Stop; these buttons are circular in shape and connected by a shared radius.  The basic shape for the icon container was derived from the spatial arrangement of the control panel buttons, then layering on pre-existing icons to convey the different categories of product functionality.
