DESIGN OPERATIONS
Role: Operational leader for UX enablement and design tools
Approach:
Interviewed researchers and visual designers to build use cases and understand the challenges and needs of the design team
Identified a short list of tools for each design discipline (e.g. user interviews, diary studies, low through high fidelity UX design, illustrations) for vendor demonstration
Engaged the designers to evaluate the key features of tools under consideration
Evaluated / negotiated commercial agreements with vendors
Managed the onboarding interlocks with internal risk, compliance and technical teams
Key Considerations: Onboarding design tools in highly regulated environments involve a set of prescribed processes and interlocks that take 3 to 6 months to complete. In order to expedite onboarding while maintaining the integrity of internal reviews, it’s important to understand and anticipate the requirements of each process step to prevent delays during hand-offs.
Results:
Detailed documentation of review process inputs and outputs, managed implementations with technology teams for access and security (e.g. SSO, user registration)
Deployed tools to design teams facilitating their best contributions to business objectives
Ongoing reviews of existing tools and vendor feature updates
Ongoing assessments of new to market tools as compared to existing tools and evolving business needs, managed design tools alignment across LOBs
